Our History

Zion Lutheran School is an educational ministry of Zion Lutheran Church.  Established in 1896, it has been meeting the educational and spiritual needs of the central Cooper county area for over 100 years.  Zion Lutheran School is located 9 miles south of I-70 on Highway B, in Lone Elm, Missouri.

Our Mission

The mission of Zion Lutheran School is to educate the "whole" child.  We stress Christian values and morals while educating Spiritually, Intellectually, Socially, and Physically.

SPIRITUALLY:  Christian studies are an important part of our academic program.  Daily devotions provide prayer and worship opportunities for all students.  Zion uses the 'Faith Alive' religion series and we integrate Christian studies into all aspects of our academic program.

INTELLECTUALLY:  Zion Lutheran School is dedicated to quality education.  Since not all students possess the same skills and abilities, one-on-one individuality is recognized in the teaching-learning process.  The ABEKA Christian Book Series is used in all subjects.  Zion's students consistently rank well above the national average in the Iowa Basic and other test scores.  Wherever Zion students go to continue their education, they excel.

SOCIALLY:  At Zion opportunities are provided for students to socialize with both adults and peers.  Students participate in activities on a class and school-wide basis.  Social activities, student publications, music/drama productions, and service projects are organized to assist students.

PHYSICALLY:  Students have the opportunity to pursue areas of interest in physical education.  In addition to softball and volleyball, interscholastic competition in basketball is provided for boys and girls of all grades.
