›› Services at Saint James
Service to God and Jesus Christ is a key aspect of life here at St. James. It can come in many forms. There are so many ways to serve, from participating in a worship service, to teaching Sunday school to joining the choir or volunteering in the Altar Guild. Everyone is encouraged to become involved, and there is always use for any talent.
Is God calling you to serve in one of these ways?
We are always in need of help in the following areas:
Acolyte coordinator: Someone to schedule acolytes.
Lay visitors: Persons willing to call briefly at the first-time visitors to our church.
Stephen Minister Trainees: People to prepare this fall as Stephen Ministers.
Youth Leaders: Persons who will help our staff grow youth ministry.
Stephen Minister Care Receivers: Anyone who needs one-on-one support for a current challenge.
Coordinator for Greeters: Persons to schedule greeters for services.
Ushers: Men, women, youth willing to attend to the needs of worshippers, distribute bulletins, help with Communion and gather offerings.
Hospitality: People to assist coordinator in outreach.
Computer Designers: People to create new brochures for all our organizations.
Teachers/Leaders: To lead adult education classes for units of 5 to 6 weeks.
Altar Guild Members: Individuals or couples to participate in preparing the chancel for services.
Band and Choir Members: Men, women, young people, and children to sing in the choirs or play in the Bell Choirs or 9:30 band.
Drivers: Persons to assist with transportation to church for children and adults on Sundays and errands for the office on weekdays.
The Congregation: All members to pray for the ministry of our church that we may continue to witness to Jesus Christ.
If you feel you can help us meet any of these needs, please call Pastor Paul or phone the church office at 215-743-1828.
›› Parish Notes
We are a community church offering a wide range of opportunities in the name of Jesus Christ. If you are visiting for the first time, we invite you to find out more about us and come again!
- Welcome to Bible 101. Our Bible Studies are every Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the Seitter-Petersen Room. We are studying our way through the Bible, join us!
- If you haven't been able to participate in worship due to sickness or other health issues, please contact the church office. We make every attempt to keep informed of those who are dealing with illness, but sometimes just a call from you or a friend helps us to know about a need. Your church does care about you!
- If you are hospitalized and wish a visit from a Stephen Minister or Pastor, call the church office at 215.743.1828.
- Additional Teachers and assistants are needed for Sunday's Saint James Kids School. Can you Help? See Mary Kenny, Carol Sickles or Pastor Paul!
- Join us at the Gathering Place. Social and culinary refreshment is offered every Sunday morning between services in the cloakroom area.
- AID FOR FRIENDS is a meals program to homebound folks. Saint James is a contributing church. If you can help in any way, please contact the church office.
- We will be collecting canned and dry goods for the needy. The table at the back of the narthex is our collection site for non-perishables. Most will be delivered to distribution centers. Linda Schafer of Saint James will be our 'point person'. You can contact her through the church office.
- If you are away on some weekends, consider worshipping with us on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Room.
- A sound system is available for persons who have a hearing impairment.
- A ramp for those with walking difficulties is available on the Pratt Street side of the church.
