›› Ministry at Saint James
Ministry at St. James comes in many forms. We have the ongoing Stephen Ministry and we have the new and evolving Multicultural Ministry where we are trying to blend the family of St. James so that all cultures may come together in a common goal of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and at the same time share the richness of each persons culture with others.
Please visit our Multicultural, Stephen Ministry and Youth Ministry pages so that you can keep up with the changes at St. James.
Once again, Thank you for stopping by and God Bless You!
›› Women of Faith
The Women of Faith (WOF), is a community driven organization that began in 2008. Reaching out to the people of the Frankford section of the city is one of the main goals for WOF. AN active group of ladies, belonging to the congregation of Saint James Evangelical Lutheran Church, make up this faith based coalition. All of these wonderful ladies share the same hopes, dreams and desires, of spreading God's word, while going God's work. When these lades began their connection, magic became a reality. The Lord began working through each and every one of their spirits, and the Women of Faith started to bloom.
Today, the WOF has almost doubled their members, with women from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The beauty of this is that every one of these ladies shares the same philosophy; ALL human beings are created equal. They also agree that the Lord our God has graciously blessed every individual on this earth with a very unique and special talent. This awesome gift has been given to each one of us, to share with one another, and to help our fellow human beings t the best of our ability regardless of one's gender, race religion or any other variable that differentiates us from one another in this world.
The Women of Faith's Mission Statement is that "All things can be done though our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Through him, there is No Problem that will go unsolved."
Our Pledge to the community is that whoever needs and ask for our help, we will do our best to be there, whether it be requesting a referral, counseling, financial help, educational tutoring, transportation, visitation, or even an ear to listen. The Women of Faith's Pledge is to try their best to be that friend in need.
Through God's love and blessings, the Women of Faith will continue to grow, be available to all who are in need, and continuously evolve into many of the solutions for our community members problems that arise, regardless of their situation big or small. Any women who strive for these same hopes and dreams, and believe in the ideology of the Women of Faith, are welcome to come aboard and offer their special talents to incorporate into this growing organization of wonderful women.
God Bless All!
Love, Mary Burns, Women of Faith

›› The Decision is Ours:
IF OUR CHURCH GROWS. . .
it is because our attendance is regular and we invite and bring friends regularly.
IF OURS IS AN ACTIVE CHURCH. . .
it is because we are committed to her ministries and give our time and influence to them.
IF OURS IS A SCRIPTURAL CHURCH. . .
it is because we insist on nothing short of biblical preaching and teaching.
IF OURS IS A FRIENDLY CHURCH. . .
it is because we are friendly, taking the initiative to meet and greet new and old alike each week.
IF OURS IS A REDEMPTIVE CHURCH. . .
it is because we attend church school and other educational opportunities and desire to learn more about the Bible.
IF OURS IS AN EDUCATED CHURCH. . .
it is because we take the initiative to read and interpret the teachings of the Bible and apply them in our own lives
IF OURS IS A GIVING CHURCH. . .
it is because we give not just offerings, but also of our God-given abilities, time, energy, and ideas.
›› On the lighter side....
The Organist
The minister was preoccupied with thoughts of how he was going to ask the congregation to come up with more money than they were expecting, for repairs to the church building. Therefore, he was annoyed to find that the regular organist was sick and a substitute had been brought in at the last minute.
The substitute wanted to know what to play. “Here’s a copy of the service,” he said impatiently “But you’ll have to think of something to play after I make the announcement about the finances.” During the service, the minister paused and said, “Brothers and Sisters, we are in great difficulty, the roof repairs cost twice as much as we expected, and we need $4,000 more. Any of you who can pledge $100 or more, please stand up.” At that moment the substitute organist played The Star Spangled Banner.
And that is how the substitute became the regular organist!

Have a mind that is open to everything - attached to nothing.
Embrace silence.
You can’t give away what you don't have.
There are NO justified resentments.
You must send “blame” out of your life.
Don’t die with your music still in you.
You can’t solve a problem with the same mind that created it.
Treat yourself as though you are already what you would like to become.
Treasure your divinity. Know that you are always connected to your source.
Wisdom is avoiding all thought that weakens you
