Co-Pastors

Roger and Janelle Osbeck

Roger was born in Oakland, California, where he lived until 1984. He earned an undergraduate degree in sociology from the University of California at Berkeley, then achieved the Master of Divinity degree from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary, also in Berkeley. He served an internship at St. John Lutheran Church in Peru, Illinois, and completed a Clinical Pastoral Education program at Oregon State Hospital in Salem, Oregon. Roger has served as interim pastor at Trinity and Lake Grove Lutheran Parish in Waubun, Minnesota; Sychar Lutheran in Silver Bay, Minnesota; Zoar-Lutsen Lutheran Parish in Tofte and Lutsen, Minnesota; and as co-pastor with his wife, Janelle, at Zion Lutheran in Finland, Minnesota. Roger and Janelle came to Prince of Peace Lutheran in 1993.

Janelle was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She moved with her family to Neche, North Dakota until the age of 5, when her father was called as a missionary to Japan. She has lived in the Japanese cities of Yugawara and Tokyo. Janelle earned undergraduate degrees in chemistry and religion at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. She later achieved the Master of Divinity degree from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California. Janelle interned at Rindal Lutheran Parish in Fertile, Minnesota, and completed a Clinical Pastoral Education program at Glenwood State Institution in Glenwood, Iowa. She has served as interim pastor at Sychar Lutheran in Silver Bay, Minnesota, and as co-pastor at Zion Lutheran in Finland, Minnesota, before coming to Prince of Peace.
