Some of Our Crew:
Seated Front (L>R): Genny, Violet, Marilyn; Seated Middle: Linda
& Cessily; Standing Back: Jan, Donna and Pastor Tim Larson
(Who had the IDEA to make Windows and suggested Cessily offer her
talents for our Church Collaboration Project) A few of our many painter volunteers, above: (L>R) Visiting friend, Violet, Jan, Marilyn and Donna in Peace Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. "Faux Stained Glass" Making: Translucent Vellum Paper (medium weight) is masking taped to foam core board called "stretching" so it will dry flat after painting them with acrylic paint mixed into Matte Medium (no water is used) to make transparent colorfast colors, patterns, and surface textures. Cutters Donna, Violet and Jan with painter Marge in back. Our first try at cutting the heavy layers of archival black paper frames with folded & glued outer sides and tops!! Sore fingers, necks and arms.... the all call went out for "strong armed crew members"........ With great praises we thank Al Canute (below left) for his strong hands, steady accurate eye for detail, and encouraging spirit. His weekly commitment of time and positive attitude has made this project possible!
Veronica, custom dressmaker recently arrived from Nigeria, is carefully applying our "Faux Stained Glass" onto our acetate supported frame back by tracing the needed shape, cutting it out, and spray mounting it onto the acetate. A top frame is adhered over all that you see making a frame "sandwich". Continuing to add "Faux Stained Glass" are Genny and Jan, with Linda supervising our process. Also with grateful hearts we thank our volunteers Linda and Marilyn for their wonderful artistry and leadership in managing the progress of our Peace Window Project at Peace Lutheran Church, Southfield, MI.
